In a scathing letter addressed to Comer, the Clintons urge him to focus on the truth and fight for the country. They argue that their sworn statements, backed by the penalty of perjury, should be enough to clear their names.
"You may not know this, but we've done everything asked of us," the statement reads. "We've provided comprehensive declarations, yet Comer chooses to ignore the facts and resort to lying."
The declarations, dated January 13th, deny any personal knowledge or involvement with Epstein and Maxwell's criminal activities. Both Clintons state they've never visited Epstein's estate in the U.S. Virgin Islands and had no role in any investigations or prosecutions.
Former President Clinton acknowledges that Epstein may have attended White House events during his tenure but claims no specific interaction or recollection. Hillary Rodham Clinton emphasizes her lack of involvement with the Department of Justice's handling of the Epstein and Maxwell cases during her time in office.
"I had no idea of their criminal activities, and I took no action to help them evade scrutiny," former President Clinton wrote.
And this is the part most people miss: the Clintons are fighting back with facts and accountability, calling out Comer's tactics. They believe their statements should be enough to clear their names, but will Comer and the committee accept their declarations?
